Bespoke architectural lighting by VANTOT: the OPION light sculpture suspended in the 30-metre-high atrium of The Bank, Amsterdam.

OPION

Commissioned by DEKA, in association with TANK, we created a 30 meter high light sculpture in The Bank, Amsterdam. It features two ways to incorporate the OPION lights in an interior design. One as a bold artistic feature throughout a large atrium, while single pendant versions illuminate the pantries below, resulting in one immersive experience.

OPION with TANK

TANK challenged us to design a 30-meter-high light sculpture for the atrium, intersected by a bridge at mid-height. The installation needed not only to impress, but also to introduce a sense of comfort. By visually lowering the vast space and creating a feeling of warmth and enclosure.

This required more than a lighting design. It called for a strategic approach to both experience and installation. We developed a system using hoists, allowing the sculpture to be assembled from the first floor and carefully lifted into its final position.

Each light element is individually accessible and equipped with a high-frequency control system, enabling adjustments in color temperature to support natural biorhythms. By eliminating the need for data cabling, the system remains efficient, easy to install, and simple to maintain. Powered by 48V, the setup is streamlined to just a positive and negative connection, ensuring both elegance and technical clarity.

Kazerne

“Home is Where the Heart Is” is we called the piece. To pay homage to our beloved Eindhoven It will lie at the heart of the exhibitions showed at Kazerne – the design platform in central Eindhoven that since 2014 has provided a collaborative ecosystem to both support and shape the evolution of Dutch design.

With our own tool in Blender we are able to create all kind of proposals.
